Biography

Gary Yancey obtained his Electrical Engineering BS from OSU in 1967, and his MS from San Jose State in 1970. After experience with the defense division of GTE Sylvania, he joined ARGO Systems, a manufacturer of electronic reconnaissance systems, rising from a senior engineer to director of the Strategic Systems Division in 1982. In 1984, he co-founded Applied Signal Technology, Inc., with the objective of providing digital signal processing equipment for signal reconnaissance and defense-related communications systems to customers in the US government. As president and CEO, Mr. Yancey succeeded in making AST one of the top 500 high-growth companies in 1991. In that same year, Ernst & Young, Merrill-Lynch and Inc magazine proclaimed Mr. Yancey their Entrepreneur of the Year.
